Celebrating Black History Month with Gensler
In a memorable Black History Month session held at Gensler’s Birmingham office, David Oswald Springer (DOS) was invited to share his personal and artistic journey with a select group of 20 Gensler Europe team members. Known for his start as a graffiti artist across Birmingham and his evolution into screen printing, Dave’s work continues to resonate with themes of identity, resistance, and community—values deeply tied to Black history and culture.

During the talk, Dave reflected on his transformation from a young, rebellious street artist to an established screen printer. His passions, while different now, remain rooted in the same principles that defined his early days: the power of art to convey social and political commentary. The audience at Gensler was eager to delve into not only his work but the purpose driving it, leading to an open discussion that felt like more than a presentation.

The setting allowed for an intimate exchange, blending Dave’s reflections with meaningful dialogue, underscoring the way storytelling can shape perception—not only of art but of history and identity. Black History Month provided an ideal context, spotlighting the role of creativity in challenging narratives and preserving heritage.
