Early Life:

Growing Up in Birmingham

Born in Aston, Birmingham, is the youngest of nine children. His childhood was deeply shaped by the rich cultural diversity of the inner city. While school was a part of his routine, his true passion for art emerged early, spending most of his time sketching and doodling. As his elder brothers embraced Rastafarianism and his sister was actively involved in community work with the Birmingham Black Sisters, Dave’s worldview was influenced by themes of identity, activism, and artistic expression from a young age.

The Journey to London:

Discovering Screen Printing

In the mid-1980s, Dave moved to East London, where his creative journey took a pivotal turn. He found his calling in screenprinting, designing and producing his first t-shirts in a friend's bedroom. It wasn’t long before his talent was recognised, and he began working with Tyrone Whyte, a master screen printer and martial artist. Tyrone became an early mentor, teaching Dave the fundamentals of the craft while they collaborated on projects for iconic British acts such as Soul II Soul.
